Before getting his Doctorate degree in Psychology (1985), Dr. Yellen earned a Bachelors degree in Physical Education (1970) then went on to get his Masters degree (1974). Dr. Yellen also holds a Certificate of Proficiency in Substance Abuse and has worked with several organizations to design crisis and substance abuse intervention programs.

Dr. Yellen has been interviewed on local radio stations such as KFWB and KRTH, as well as on local television news programs on NBC, CBS, ABC, KTLA, KCAL. As a psychologist experienced with industrial and organizational issues, I have been asked for assistance with employees numerous times over the years. Several years ago I was asked to perform a survey. However, the CEO was quite adamant about our organization providing a “personalized” experience.

What is unusual or unique about your business? What do you do differently than the rest?

We personally meet with company staff members several times to completely understand a company. Only after those meetings will we begin the process of designing the company’s survey. We believe that the input from management is an essential part of creating this survey. It is the personal contact that really allows the professional to comprehensively evaluate a company from top to bottom. Further, it is that personal contact which allows the professional to make recommendations unique to the company culture.

What are some of the greatest challenges in your business and how do you meet them?

Probably the greatest challenge is having employers understand the value of the information that employees can provide. We give examples of what types of information has been uncovered in other surveys.

What is an interesting story about a customer interaction you had?

By means of our surveying the employees, we had discovered that within the accounting department of the business, two people were embezzling. At first when presented with the information, the CEO blamed us. He asked his close executives to comment, and they verified what the survey had discovered. When he asked them why they didn’t tell him, they all said they had, but he did not listen. It was not until seeing it in black and white that his attention was focused.

We are reaching out to these owners who have a commitment to solving the problems that they know about and the hidden problems that they must know about in order to become a better team.
